Barron Collier brought a streetcar to Everglades City that ran from DuPont Island (where the batteries were charged each night) along Copeland Avenue, then to the Barron River at the end of Broadway. This service stopped in 1929 when parts of the track were washed away in a flood; however, some tracks could still be seen along West Broadway until the roads were raised to prevent flooding after the 1993 “No-Name” Storm of the Century and Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
