Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890-1998) was a conservationist, best known for her leadership in working to protect the Everglades and Big Cypress regions. In addition to her journalistic work at the Miami Herald and many short stories written, she authored her most influential book the Everglades: River of Grass in 1947. Marjory lived to be 108 years old. A True Friend of the Everglades.
