Glen Simmons (1916-2009) was an Everglades skiff builder from the Florida City area. Skiffs were the primary means of transportation for hunting and fishing in the Everglades, and Glen built his first Glades skiff out of cypress planks; then, later, he used marine plywood for the bottom and redwood or cypress for the gunwales and transom. Glen was a hunter and eventually started guiding sportsmen and researchers in the Everglades.
